The Lochranza bird list shows all the birds seen by us, in and around Lochranza so far this year. I am sure you will agree that there are some great birds on this list

Black Throated Diver - Up to 9 off Newton Point
- Little Grebe - up to 5 on the Loch
- Fulmar - Cliffs near catacol
- Cormorant - Common
- Shag - Easy to find
- Grey Heron - Around the loch
- Mute Swan - Often on the loch, one bird died earlier in the year
- Greylag Goose - 6 on the golf course
- Mallard - very common
- Eider - easy to see along the coast
- Goldeneye - Up to 3 on the loch in the winter
- Red Breasted Merganser - Easy to see on the loch and along the coast
- Goosander - 2 males for a few weeks
- Hen Harrier - Occasional sighting on the hills
- Golden Eagle - Pair nest locally
- Buzzard - Often seen around the area
- Oystercatcher - plenty on the loch
- Ringed Plover - sometimes seen on the loch
- Snipe - Only one sighting
- Woodcock - One on the hill
- Curlew - lots on the loch
- Redshank - several on the loch
- Turnstone - sometimes on the loch
- Common Gull - lots on the loch and at sea
- Herring Gull - Lots on the loch and at sea
- Great Black-backed Gull - Up to 3 on the loch
- Black Guillemot -Seen from Newton Point
- Rock Dove - Around the area
- Woodpigeon Quite common locally

- Wheatear - One male on Newton Beach
23 March 2010 - Only the second sighting on the Island this year.

- Rock Pipit - North Newton shore
- Black Guillemot - Often seen out to sea
- Gannet - Often flying past
- Goldfinch - North Newton shore
- Siskin - feeder in the garden
- Cuckoo - 2 calling around the local area
- Willow Warbler - Local trees
- Chiffchaff - Local trees
- Spotted Flycatcher - Passing through
