Both dentists are located in Brodick

The only optician on the island is McAlisters at the Douglas Centre in Brodick. Tel: 01770 302878

Police

Crime on the island is very low, but if you do need to contact the Police for other than a 999 call then there is a station at Lamlash (not always manned) Tel: 01770 302573 /4

The emergency services can be contacted on 999. This covers, Police, Ambulance, Fire Services, Coastguard and Mountain Rescue. This number should only be used for a real Emergency

Located on the Pier at Brodick, the office has lots of Arran information, sells books and guides and for a small charge can also find you a bed.

Banking

The Bank of Scotland and the Royal Bank of Scotland both have banks with cash machines on the main street in Brodick. They also run mobile banks around the island at various times.

There is also a cash machine located in the Co-Operative Supermarket at Brodick.

Postal Services

The latest time for post to leave the island is 3.45pm at Brodick, earlier on other parts of the island. In the event of adverse weather conditions it is possible that post may not leave the island on the day.

The main Post Office and Sorting Office is in Brodick and there are small Post Offices on other parts of the island, often in the village store. (In Lochranza it is in the Village Hall on Tuesday and Friday morning)

Arran Phone information

Mobile phone reception varies throughout the island and often within a village. Not surprisingly reception in the mountains is usually poor.

The best service providers are usually Vodafone, Orange and O2.

Mobile phone top-ups are easily available at Supermarkets, Post Offices etc.

Several cafes and hotels offer wi-fi connectivity. As in most places, it is expected that people will buy food or drink at these establishments. There are also terminals at Brodick Library and Arran Graphics on Brodick Pier. Charges vary.

Churches

There are a number of churches throughout the island. The most numerous are Church of Scotland where there are various service times on Sundays. There is also a Catholic Church which has a Sunday morning mass at 11am.
